Awards and Recognition Programs
The Langley Air Force Association Chapter supports quarterly and annual awards programs for the major organizations on Langley AFB. This program now recognizes over 110 airmen and civilian personnel annually. We assist in recognizing award winners from Headquarters Air Combat Command, the 1st Fighter Wing, the 633rd Air Base Wing, the 480th Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Wing and the 192nd Fighter Wing (VA ANG). The Chapter presents award winners in each military category (airman, noncommissioned officer, senior noncommissioned office and company grade officer) plus the civilian professional category a $50 cash award. Additionally, the Chapter sponsors the distinguished graduate program for the Langley AFB Airman Leadership School (ALS) and provides plaques for each winner. We also present quarterly and annual winners and the ALS distinguished graduates a free one-year AFA membership. We also provide a monetary donation to each organization to help defray annual awards banquet expenses. A Chapter member attends each event to personally congratulate the winners whenever possible.
