Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)

Langley Chapter Vice President for Aerospace Education, Jerry Levesque, represented the Air Force Association at the Langley Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Graduation on June 5,2015 at the Bayview Commonwealth Center. AFA recognized six graduates at the event with a Pitsenbarger Award, consisting of a certificate and a check for $400. Presenting these awards to select CCAF graduates is one way that AFA supports our Airmen and provides advocacy for aerospace education.

The 2015 Pitsenbarger Award recipients were: TSgt David E. Dawson, 439th Supply Chain Operations Squadron; SSgt Teresa J. Cleveland, 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs; SSgt Mranth A. Kumpf, ACC Communication Support Squadron; SSgt Mark G. Green, 1st FW Operations Support Squadron; SrA Matthew J. Ramsey, 1st FW Operations Support Squadron; and SrA Nicole C. Dorland, 439th Supply Chain Operations Squadron.

These awards are presented in the memory of A1C William Pitsenbarger, a USAF Pararecueman and Medal of Honor recipient. A1C Pitsenbarger gave his life in 1966 at the age of 21 while aiding and defending a unit of soldiers pinned down by an enemy assault near Cam My, South Vietnam. His action saved the lives of nine soldiers.
