From the Chapter President

First things first ... Happy 69th Birthday to the Air Force!

I write this having just left the Air, Space and Cyber Conference at the Gaylord Hotel in National Harbor, Maryland. And as usual it was a power-packed week ... the perfect way to close out my term as the Langley Chapter President. It has been a busy two years but I’m very proud of our team and all that we accomplished. We wanted to turn it up a notch and play at a higher level to be able to do more for our airmen and the Langley Chapter awards 200pxcommunity and we did. In our mission to celebrate 100 years of Langley, we aggressively engaged our men and women in uniform, added over 500 new members to our chapter, did things we’d never done before and set the pace for other chapters to try to match. As a result we were recognized last week as the #1 Extra Large Chapter nationwide and also received an exceptional service award for the best single program executed all year -- our Salute to ACC and Team Langley! This couldn’t have been done without your help and the tremendous support of our Langley AFB Leadership. Needless to say, I could not be more excited about where the Langley Chapter is headed.

There is no way to recreate the experience of attending the conference here in a one page note, but in case you’re interested I did want to provide you links to video files for some of the bigger keynote presentations: Now, before I turn you lose on the rest of the issue, the third quarter does end with some changes in Chapter Leadership. Mark Douglas is stepping up to take the reigns as Chapter President. Our Executive Vice President, Capt Hannah Richmond is deploying. Retired Major General Rich Shook has joined the team to fill her spot and lead the planning and execution of next year’s Symposium. I’m also excited to announce that SrA Marc Granville has been elected as our new Chapter Secretary. This new team will provide a fresh look at things to ensure we keep Langley a premier chapter. But we can always use more help! Please consider giving back in an area that Johnson crierinterests you! Join us, you won’t regret it!

It’s been a pleasure. Signing off ...
